Jet Fuel Price Drops, Domestic Airline Ticket Prices Also Drop

The sloping jet fuel price affects domestic airline ticket prices to decline compared to some time ago. Ticket prices to major cities in Indonesia also fell. For example, the cheapest economy class flight route from Jakarta to Bali is only Rp. 705,000.

The economy flight route is for weekend flights (Saturday, 18/2/2023) with Trans Nusa airlines.

Air Asia and Super Air Jet provide cheap tickets for IDR 712 thousand. This price is considered cheap compared to the price at the end of last year, which was above IDR 1 million.

As for other airlines such as Lion Air, Citilink, Pelita, and Batik Air, ticket prices range from Rp. 732 thousand to Rp. 1 million, depending on the time of departure.

The next busiest route, namely the Jakarta – Surabaya flight. With economy class and the same departure date, the cheapest price is IDR 620,000 with Lion Air.

Meanwhile, Super Air Jet, Pelita Air, Batik Air, Citilink, and Garuda Indonesia airlines charge ticket prices in the range of IDR 650,000 to IDR 1.5 million, depending on the time of departure.

Furthermore, for the Jakarta – Yogyakarta flight route for economy class and the same departure date, the cheapest price is IDR 564 thousand with Lion Air, followed by Pelita Air, which sells tickets at IDR 598,000.

Other airlines, such as Super Air Jet, Trans Nusa, Batik Air, Citilink, and Garuda, charge ticket prices in the range of Rp. 600,000 to Rp. 1.2 million, depending on the time of departure.

Shift again to another fat route, Jakarta – Medan for economy class and departure date (Friday, 17/2/2023). The cheapest ticket price is IDR 804 thousand with Lion Air.

Meanwhile, if passengers want to fly over the weekend, namely on Saturday (18/2/2023), the cheapest ticket price is IDR 852 thousand with the Super Air Jet airline.

The decline in domestic airline ticket prices was influenced by the stability of jet fuel prices. Quoting Pertamina’s One Solution website, the price of jet fuel at International Soekarno Hatta Airport, for example, for the period 1-14 February 2022 fell to IDR 14,947.57 per liter for domestic flights and to 88.9 US cents per liter for international flights.

In the previous period, for 15-31 January 2023, the price was still at IDR 15,136.8 per liter for domestic flights and 88.2 US cents per liter for international flights.
