The news of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping arrival was previously still confusing. However, this time the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, confirmed that the two heads of state would attend the G20 Summit in Bali, next November.

The statement, reported by Bloomberg, was expressed directly by Jokowi in an interview session. This is the first time Jokowi has confirmed that the two are planning to attend the November summit.

“Xi Jinping is coming. President Putin also told me that he would come,” Jokowi said as quoted by Bloomberg, Friday (19/8/2022).

However, China’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a Reuters statement regarding this news. Reuters also confirmed this to Indonesian Presidential Palace officials but no one has yet responded.

Previously, the Kremlin reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President Jokowi. Vladimir Putin, in that conversation, wished Jokowi a happy independence day which fell on August 17, 1945.

Putin also considered current issues related to the development of Russia-Indonesia relations, with a focus on implementing the agreements reached during Joko Widodo’s recent visit to Russia.

“This includes the promotion of a number of bilateral trade and economic projects,” the Kremlin said in a statement quoted on Friday (19/8/2022).

Putin and Jokowi, the Kremlin report continued, also discussed global food security.

“Vladimir Putin told his colleagues about the efforts to stabilize the global grain and fertilizer situation, which Russia has been doing together with Turkiye and the UN Secretariat,” he added.

In addition, taking into account the G20 Presidency of Indonesia, Putin and Jokowi also discussed preparations for the G20 Summit in Bali, which is scheduled for November this year.
