The Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) has confirmed that the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB) will commence operations on August 18, 2023, alongside the launch of the LRT Jabodebek or Light Rail Transit.

This development comes as Deputy Minister II of BUMN, Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, reassures the public that there will be no further delays in the launch, dispelling previous rumors of a postponement until January 2024.

In a bid to enhance connectivity, both the High-Speed Train and Jabodebek LRT will be seamlessly integrated at Halim Station through the construction of a connecting bridge. This integration will facilitate convenient transfers for passengers, enabling them to switch between the High-Speed Train and Jabodebek LRT at the station.

Furthermore, the interconnectivity of the High-Speed Train and Jabodebek LRT extends beyond their integration at Halim Station. These transport modes will also be linked with other public transportation systems, including TransJakarta buses and online taxis, creating a comprehensive network of interconnected transportation options.

Tiko, the Deputy Minister II of BUMN, emphasized the ongoing coordination between the Ministry of BUMN and the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to optimize intermodal connectivity. This collaboration aims to establish a seamless experience for commuters, providing them with convenient access to various modes of public transportation.

The integration of these transportation systems is not only beneficial for the public but also for the transportation service providers. Tiko emphasized that an efficient and interconnected public transportation system will not only enhance the overall commuting experience but also encourage a shift away from private vehicles.

As more individuals opt for public transportation, the revenue of transportation companies is expected to increase, driven by the interconnected feeder systems.

Tiko further highlighted the long-term vision of the Ministry of BUMN, envisioning a future where Indonesian society embraces and relies on public transportation, similar to countries like Singapore and Japan.

By continually striving for optimal service and integration, the Ministry aims to create a comfortable and efficient public transportation network that meets the needs of the Indonesian population.

Overall, the launch of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train and Jabodebek LRT marks a significant milestone in Indonesia’s transportation sector. With a focus on integration, connectivity, and optimal service, the Ministry of BUMN aims to revolutionize the way Indonesians commute, fostering a sustainable and convenient transportation ecosystem for years to come.
