Several regions in Indonesia are still implementing the Level III Implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM). However, in some areas, such as Jabodetabek, regulations have been relaxed.

Some of these regulations, such as the work from office provision, from the original 25 percent, now the capacity is increased to 50 percent. In addition, the quarantine period for entering Indonesia will be cut to three days.

Different from several countries that have implemented quarantine-free entry, Indonesia still applies quarantine for Overseas Travelers (PPLN). However, it is possible shortly, or on April 1, Indonesia will relax the rules related to this quarantine.

This was confirmed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan in a press conference Tuesday (15/2/2022). He said, “If the situation continues to improve and vaccination rates continue to increase, it is possible that on April 1 or before April 1, PPLN will no longer implement a centralized quarantine,”

A good possibility, Indonesia can waive quarantine rules for those who enter Indonesia. This can be done if the case of Covid-19 transmission can be suppressed and the vaccination rate is much higher than now.

Latest Rules Now

Luhut also conveyed the latest rules regarding quarantine for PPLN. He explained that starting next week, PPLN for both foreigners and Indonesian citizens who had vaccine booster, the quarantine period could be reduced to 3 days.

Regarding the quarantine rule, which can be cut to 3 days for PPLN, will only take effect from March 1, 2022. Now, the government still requires PCR entry and exit tests.

Luhut added, “Starting next week PPLN both foreigners and Indonesian citizens who have done a booster, the length of quarantine can be reduced to 3 days provided that they continue to carry out PCR entry and exit tests, exit PCR is carried out on the third day in the morning and PPLN can leave when negative results came out.”

Then, PPLNs who have finished quarantine are advised to continue to carry out self-test PCR on the fifth day and report their health conditions to the Puskesmas or the nearest health facility.

These rules will continue to be monitored and updated following the development of the Covid-19 situation in Indonesia.

He advised, “But again this depends on the pandemic situation and also so that we control the spread of cases. We are all responsible here, to make our country safe.”
