As a requirement for the cellular mobile networks implementation in 2022, The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) opens the selection of users of the 2.1 GHz radio frequency band.
To be precise, in the 1975-1980 MHz range paired with the 2165-2170 MHz range. This announcement is made, because, after January 3, 2023, no users have been assigned.
Under the provisions in Article 12 paragraph (1) of the Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information No. 7/2021 concerning the Use of Radio Frequency Spectrum, the selection of radio frequency band users takes place through a selection mechanism if the number of radio frequency band availability is less than the number of requests and/or needs.
“The selection of users of the 2.1 GHz radio frequency band to operate a mobile cellular network in 2022 is declared open,” said Selection Team Leader Denny Setiawan in a press release, Saturday (27/8/2022).
According to Denny, this selection is aimed at optimizing the radio frequency spectrum to increase the capacity and quality of cellular mobile network services.
Furthermore, this is also to encourage the acceleration of the deployment of the cellular mobile network infrastructure as part of efforts to achieve digital transformation priority programs and optimize Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP).
“This selection is declared open to all cellular mobile network operators as long as they meet the conditions as required in the Selection Document,” he said.
The provisions referred to are objects of selection in the 2.1 GHz radio frequency band consisting of 1 block of the frequency band of 5 MHz FDD (10 MHz) in the range 1975 – 1980 MHz in pairs with 2165 – 2170 MHz with national service area coverage.
Meanwhile, for further provisions related to the selection, Denny added, referring to the Selection Document for Users of the 2.1 GHz Radio Frequency Band for the 2022 Mobile Cellular Network Operation.
“Selection documents can be taken by prospective selection participants on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 10.00 – 14.00 WIB at the Secretariat of the Wisma Antara Selection Team, Ground Floor, Jl. Medan Merdeka Selatan No. 17, Central Jakarta,” he said.
Candidates for selection are also expected to take selection documents, they must fulfill various stipulated conditions.
