Labuan Bajo, situated in East Nusa Tenggara, has been designated as one of Indonesia’s top five Super Priority Tourism Destinations by the government. This picturesque location has drawn over 470,000 tourists, both international and local, but the goal is to attract even more visitors.
Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Angela Tanoesoedibjo, has set a challenge for the West Manggarai Regency Government to increase tourist numbers in Labuan Bajo for 2024. Speaking at the Komodo Travel Mart 2024 event at the Golo Mori Convention Center on Friday (7/6/2024), Angela praised the achievement of more than 470,000 visits in 2023, marking a 60 percent rise from the previous year.
“This year, what number are we aiming for? If I’m not mistaken, the target mentioned was around 500,000, correct?” she queried during her address. However, she emphasized the need for even higher ambitions.
“If last year we managed a 60 percent increase, we should aim for more than just 500,000 this year. Let’s challenge ourselves to achieve higher,” she encouraged.
