The sight has become increasingly familiar in 2025. Foreign tourists stepping onto the Whoosh high speed train, cameras ready, excited to head straight for Bandung. What once felt like a novelty has now turned into a clear travel trend.
Throughout 2025, the number of foreign nationals using Whoosh jumped sharply. Passenger numbers rose by 60 percent, placing the service among the most favored transportation options for international visitors to Indonesia, especially those bound for Bandung.
Data from KCIC shows just how strong that growth has been. A total of 401,282 foreign tourists used Whoosh in 2025. The year before, the figure stood at 251,525 passengers. The gap is significant and reflects a major shift in travel behavior.
This surge confirms that Whoosh is no longer appealing only to domestic travelers. It has firmly entered the radar of international tourists looking for speed, comfort, and convenience.
Malaysian travelers continue to dominate the numbers. They accounted for 180,562 passengers, representing around 45 percent of all foreign users. Their strong presence is no coincidence.
Bandung remains a favorite holiday destination for tourists from Malaysia. Its proximity to Jakarta makes travel efficient. The journey feels simple. Quick. Stress free.
Social media has amplified this appeal. TikTok, in particular, has played a key role. Many Malaysian tourists have shared their experiences riding Whoosh, highlighting the fast travel time and comfortable ride from Jakarta to Bandung. Those videos have inspired others to follow.
The impact became even more visible during the Christmas and New Year holiday period. During the long Nataru break, foreign passenger numbers reached 24,571 people. That figure marked a sharp 161 percent increase compared to the same holiday period the previous year.

The spike was driven by rising international travel and tourists making the most of the holiday season to visit Bandung. Whoosh offered an efficient way to do exactly that.
With such growth, Whoosh has evolved beyond being just a modern transport option. It is now seen as a new symbol of Indonesian tourism. Especially for visitors from Malaysia and other countries who want to explore Bandung quickly, comfortably, and without complications.
If the current momentum continues, Whoosh is expected to remain a top choice for foreign tourists in the coming years. For many travelers, the journey itself has become part of the experience.
