Tomorrow, Indonesia will officially welcome its new President and Vice President, Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as they take their oaths on Sunday, October 20, 2024. In light of this historic moment, the Jakarta government has announced a special surprise for its residents. A chance to travel around the city for just Rp 1 on public transportation, including the MRT, Transjakarta, and LRT Jakarta, as part of the celebrations.

As the country prepares for this national event, Jakarta’s usual Car-Free Day (HBKB), originally scheduled for October 20, will be suspended. In its place, the city will host a series of public festivities, with stages set up to celebrate the inauguration of the new President and Vice President.

Jakarta residents have even more reason to be excited about tomorrow’s events. The Jakarta Provincial Government will offer a special Rp 1 fare on public transportation in celebration of the inauguration. This generous initiative allows people to move around the city with ease as they participate in the festivities.

LRT Jabodebek’s Public Relations Manager, Mahendro Trang Bawono, revealed that KAI has joined in to support the government’s efforts. As a way to express gratitude to the public, KAI is implementing this special Rp 1 fare for all LRT Jabodebek journeys during the inauguration day.

“To enjoy this service, passengers need to maintain a minimum balance of Rp 1,000 on their Multi Trip Cards (KMT) or Electronic Money Cards (KUE), and at least Rp 20,000 on LinkAja. It’s also important to note that each KMT or KUE card can only be used by one passenger,” Mahendro explained on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

In addition to this special promotion, Jakarta’s zero-fare policy for Mikrotrans, Transjakarta Cares, and other Transjakarta-assigned services will remain in effect, as outlined in Jakarta’s Governor Regulation No. 133 of 2018. These services also extend to certain community groups, ensuring that everyone can partake in the celebration.

“To support the inauguration of the President and Vice President for the 2024-2029 term on October 20, 2024, public transportation services, including Transjakarta BRT, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta, will operate with a special fare of Rp 1,” announced the Jakarta Transportation Agency on Saturday, October 19.

With large crowds expected to travel across the city, KAI has taken proactive steps to ensure a smooth experience for passengers. On October 20, LRT Jabodebek will increase its number of trips from 260 to 364. This adjustment is aimed at preventing overcrowding and ensuring a comfortable journey for everyone during the inaugural celebrations.
