For travelers heading to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and looking for ways to avoid Jakarta’s notorious traffic jams, there’s good news. The Commuter Line presents a convenient solution, and the offer gets even better as Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) announces a special ticket discount for the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Rail Link. Starting from September 9 until September 24, 2024, passengers can enjoy a price reduction of up to Rp 16,000 on their tickets.
In an official statement on Tuesday (September 3, 2024), Joni Martinus, VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter, shared, “This discount is available for all Commuter Line users traveling to or from Basoetta Station during the promotion period.”
The promotion is part of KAI Commuter’s celebration of the 16th anniversary of the Commuter Line Basoetta. It’s also an effort to enhance service quality and attract more passengers to use the rail link for commuting to and from Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
“Those who wish to benefit from this discount can purchase their tickets via the ticket booking application up to 7 days prior to departure or directly from the ticket vending machines at stations,” Joni added.

KAI Commuter has recorded a significant number of passengers using the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train throughout 2024. Up until August 31, there have been 1,484,904 passengers, with an average of 5,417 people on holidays and 6,478 people on weekdays.
The train operates 62 journeys daily, offering passengers a reliable way to reach the airport. However, KAI Commuter reminds passengers to plan their trips carefully. Travelers heading to Soekarno-Hatta Airport are advised to arrive at the station at least two hours before their flight to avoid last-minute rushes. For those taking international flights, it is recommended to arrive three hours in advance.
KAI Commuter hopes that this discount will encourage more people, especially residents from the Tangerang area, to use the Commuter Line as an alternative means of reaching Jakarta’s city center or heading to the airport.
“We hope the public will take full advantage of this promotional offer. KAI Commuter remains committed to continuously improving services for all passengers,” Joni concluded.
With these discounted rates and the ease of rail travel, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Commuter Line could be the perfect option for travelers looking for an affordable and stress-free journey to the airport.
