Astronomers and researchers at SpaceWeather.com have warned that the longest solar storm in history hit Earth on November 28, 2021.

The storm should not be underestimated because it has proven to have an impact on various disturbances, especially related to networks and the internet. The following is the impact of the solar body on the technological infrastructure on earth.

  1. Submarine Cable
Submarine cable infrastructure is very vulnerable to being affected and damaged when a solar storm hits. The storm is a surge of magnetic energy caused by the storm that can damage the repeaters in submarine cables.
  2. Interrupted Internet Network
Solar storms can disrupt and even damage the internet network on earth. Naturally the sun continues to throw magnetically charged particles towards the planets around it.
These particles in normal amounts can be removed by the ozone layer. Meanwhile, in solar storms, the particles of vomit become more numerous and cannot be neutralized by the earth’s protective layer.

Particles that reach the earth can damage the internet network, even at very extreme levels can damage the entire network and make internet access completely paralyzed.

  1. Radio Network Interrupted
Facilities that use radio waves will also be disturbed by solar storms. During a thunderstorm radio broadcasts may not function feffectively due to exposure to magnetically charged particles

The public must certainly be aware of the arrival of the storm, yet it is also advised not to panic or worry too much. That’s because very rarely a solar storm can cause fatal and comprehensive damage.
