The era of stopping at toll gates to make payments is gradually becoming a thing of the past, thanks to rapid technological advances that prioritize convenience and speed. Drivers in the Jabodetabek and Bali regions can now enjoy the ease of paying toll fees without the need to open their windows or stop their vehicles. A new toll payment technology, introduced through the Flo app developed by Jasa Marga, promises to revolutionize the experience of toll road users.
With the Flo system, vehicles equipped with an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) sticker on their windshields can pass through toll gates seamlessly. There’s no longer a need to pause and tap an e-money card, as the sticker automatically communicates with the toll gate’s system. The balance on the app is deducted instantly, allowing cars to continue driving at a maximum speed of 20 kilometers per hour through the toll gates.
The Flo app, also known as Let It Flo, utilizes cutting-edge touchless technology, officially referred to as Single Lane Free Flow (SLFF). The RFID technology at the core of this system has been in development by Jasa Marga Tollroad Operator (JMTO) since 2017. RFID functions via a chip and antenna that contain specific information about the vehicle, enabling toll transactions to happen without direct physical interaction.

To get started with Flo, drivers need to install an RFID sticker on their vehicle’s windshield. Once activated, the sticker acts as a sensor. When the vehicle approaches the toll gate, the sensor detects the sticker, and the payment is processed instantly. Even during heavy rain, the system remains reliable, ensuring that transactions are processed without the need for stopping.
According to Tony, a representative from PT Jasa Marga, “The simplicity and efficiency of this technology will greatly enhance the overall experience for toll road users. Flo allows drivers to avoid the usual delays caused by stopping at toll booths.”
The Flo system has already been implemented across several major toll roads, including the Jakarta Inner City Toll Road, Jagorawi Toll Road, JORR Toll Road, Jakarta-Tangerang Toll Road, Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, and Bali Mandara Toll Road.
