There’s a certain excitement that comes whenever a major airport opens a new international route. You can almost feel the shift in movement, the promise of easier travel, and the quiet hope that more visitors will soon step onto the island. That’s the energy surrounding I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali right now as it expands direct flights to Singapore with a new addition from TransNusa.

The airline launched its first Denpasar–Singapore service using an Airbus A320. The flight, 8B-551, took off from Denpasar at 07.30 WITA and was set to land in Singapore at 09.55 WITA. Its return trip, 8B-552, left Singapore at 10.55 WITA and arrived back in Bali at 13.30 WITA. The route won’t be a rare one either.

“This route will operate six times a week, every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday starting from November 17, 2025,” Ahmad Syaugi Shahab explained. He serves as the General Manager of the airport.

Before the first flight took off, a small inaugural ceremony took place at the international departure terminal. It marked the start of TransNusa’s presence on a route already busy throughout 2025. Several airlines currently connect Bali and Singapore. Garuda Indonesia, Singapore Airlines, Scoot Tiger Airways, Indonesia AirAsia, KLM Royal Dutch, Batik Air, Jetstar Airways, and Saudia Airlines all serve the same destination. Syaugi welcomed the new competitor.

“We warmly welcome TransNusa’s inaugural flight from Denpasar to Singapore. The opening of this route not only expands international connectivity options from Bali but also reflects the aviation industry’s strong confidence in Bali’s market potential.”

He added that the new service will benefit both tourists and business travelers. “With the addition of TransNusa, certainly it will add value for tourists and the public traveling for business or leisure.” For him, improving access to Singapore strengthens Bali’s global standing.

“Singapore is one of the main aviation hubs in Southeast Asia. With this direct connectivity, we are optimistic that tourist arrivals will continue to increase and boost regional economic growth.”

Right now, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport handles more than 45 international routes and 11 domestic ones. Over 51 airlines operate through it daily. Syaugi views the new service as part of a larger commitment.

“The opening of this new route by TransNusa is strong evidence of the airport’s commitment to continuously supporting the development of air connectivity and Indonesian tourism.”

With Singapore as one of Bali’s busiest gateways, the additional flights hint at a busier, more connected year ahead. The kind where travelers have more choices, the tourism sector gains new momentum, and Bali’s global reach grows a little wider with each landing and takeoff.
