Komodo National Park continues to prove why it remains one of Indonesia’s strongest global tourism magnets. Tucked away in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, the iconic conservation area closed 2025 with a surge in visitors that clearly set it apart from previous years.

Throughout 2025, Komodo National Park welcomed a total of 432,217 visitors. That figure marked a sharp rise and confirmed its growing appeal on the international stage. Foreign tourists made up the largest share of arrivals, reinforcing the park’s reputation as a world-class destination.

“Yes, the number of visits increased,” said Head of the Komodo National Park Authority Hendrikus Rani Siga, also known as Hengki, on Saturday (10/1/2026).

The growth was not marginal. Compared to 2024, total visits jumped by 98,011 people. A year earlier, the park recorded 334,206 visitors. The upward trend reflects a steady recovery and expanding interest in Komodo’s unique natural attractions.

According to Hengki, international tourists continued to dominate overall arrivals. In 2025, foreign visitors reached 340,048 people. This represented a significant increase from the 226,948 foreign tourists recorded in the previous year.

Meanwhile, domestic tourism showed a different pattern. Visits by Indonesian travelers totaled 92,169 people in 2025. That number declined compared to 107,258 domestic visitors the year before.

“Visits are still dominated by foreign tourists,” Hengki said.

Looking at monthly trends, July emerged as the busiest period of the year. Visitor numbers peaked at 63,133 people during that month. In contrast, January recorded the lowest figure, with just 12,609 visitors entering the park.

Monthly data throughout 2025 illustrates how visitor flows fluctuated over the year. January saw 12,609 visitors, followed by February with 20,001 and March with 14,455. Numbers rose in April to 38,794 and remained high in May with 36,675. June continued the upward momentum with 48,857 visitors. July marked the peak at 63,133, before easing slightly in August at 59,079. September recorded 46,335 visitors, October 43,151, November 27,414, and December closed the year with 21,714 visitors.

The longer-term trend highlights how far Komodo National Park has come. Visitor numbers stood at 144,724 in 2022, then climbed to 300,488 in 2023. Growth continued in 2024 with 334,206 visitors, before reaching a new high of 432,217 in 2025.

Taken together, these figures underline Komodo National Park’s position as a leading international destination. With foreign tourists continuing to drive growth and overall visits reaching record levels, the park remains a cornerstone of Indonesia’s tourism appeal.
