Not everyone plans to leave Jakarta during the Eid holiday. For residents who choose to stay in the capital in 2026, the city government is preparing a series of special promotions designed to make the holiday period more enjoyable.

Through a program called “Mudik to Jakarta,” the Jakarta Provincial Government is offering various incentives for residents who remain in the city. The initiative includes hotel discounts, transportation offers, and free access to several tourist destinations during the Eid holiday period.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the program intentionally focuses on residents who decide not to travel to their hometowns.

“For those who are not traveling to their hometowns, we have emphasized that since Jakarta’s theme is ‘Mudik to Jakarta’, they will receive special treatment,” he said, as quoted by Antara on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

The program is organized through cooperation between the Jakarta Provincial Government and several industry partners. These include the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), the Indonesian Travel Agent Association (Astindo) Jakarta, and the Jakarta Experience Board.

The “Mudik to Jakarta” program runs from February 27, 2026 until March 31, 2026. During this period, residents can take advantage of multiple benefits across transportation, tourism, accommodation, and shopping.

Public transportation will be free for two days. The policy applies to several major services in the capital, including TransJakarta buses, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta.

Access to several popular tourist attractions will also be free for specific groups. Holders of the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) can enter destinations such as Ancol, Monas, Ragunan Zoo, and other tourist sites without paying an entrance fee.

Accommodation promotions are also part of the program. A total of 26 hotels in Jakarta are offering special rates through a promotion that allows guests to pay for two nights and stay for three nights.

Retail offers are included as well. Visitors can receive shopping vouchers that can be used at eight outlets belonging to the ITC Group.

Tourism-related businesses are also participating by offering special prices in various leisure locations. These include recreation and entertainment venues, museums, cinemas, golf courses, spas, and other attractions across the city.

Travel discounts are available for those coming to Jakarta too. Special fares are offered for Citilink flights and Kereta Api Indonesia train services that operate routes to the capital.

In addition, private Jakarta tour packages are available for people who want a more guided experience while exploring the city.

Through these initiatives, the Jakarta government aims to make the capital an attractive destination during the Eid holiday season, even for residents who choose to spend the celebration without leaving the city.
