Labuan Bajo is preparing to host the G20 Summit. One of the G20 presidency points that will be held in Labuan Bajo is the G20 Tourism Working Group. The plan is that it will be held until the peak of the G20 event in November.

The G20 Tourism Working Group is one of the points discussed at the G20 Indonesia presidency which focuses on efforts to transform community-based tourism and MSMEs for more resilient tourism.

Later, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy itself will focus on community-based tourism transformation efforts. Furthermore, they will also develop MSMEs for more resilient Indonesian and global tourism.

Accelerating the recovery of the community-based tourism sector is a theme that is planned to be raised at the TWG G20 forum this year.

The Managing Director of the Implementing Agency for the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF) Shana Fatina said that since 2019 the face of Labuan Bajo City has slowly been beautified, polished, and dressed up by presenting various public facilities which are expected to provide space for the community, as well as tourists.

This is to be able to enjoy the charm of Labuan Bajo City in terms of architecture and culture and creativity which is one of the driving forces for the birth of people’s creative ideas.

“One of the things that we have prepared is a waterfront city that has been designed by a team of architects, Yori Antar, who will support the implementation of this year’s G20,” he said in a press release, Tuesday (22/3/2022).

Furthermore, he said that Labuan Bajo was very ready to welcome the holding of the G20 Summit and wanted to maximize it. This is certainly in line with the goals of the center and the regions, including the community. Therefore, his party built a waterfront city with five main pillars of tourism as a window for visitors or the G20 contingent who came to see the face of Labuan Bajo more closely.

It is known, according to the schedule for the series of G20 TWG meetings, among others, it will start on May 8, 2022, to May 11, 2022, with a hybrid implementation in Labuan Bajo which will be attended by echelon 1 officials.

On September 23, 2022, the 2nd meeting will be held offline in Bali. After that, the peak is on 26 September 2022 and takes place offline in Bali, there will be a back-to-back Tourism Ministerial Meeting (TMM) with the implementation of the 2022 World Tourism Day commemoration.
