Airline ticket prices are starting to down. This is caused by the aircraft fuel (Avtur) prices that begin to fall as well. It is observed that the air ticket prices on domestic and international routes have started to fall.
President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) previously mentioned the spike in flight ticket prices and instructed SOE Minister Erick Thohir and Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi to immediately make efforts to lower ticket prices.
“In the field, I have heard, the price of plane tickets is high. I have ordered the Minister of Transportation to solve this immediately. Garuda, the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises I convey to immediately add more planes so that prices can return to normal,” said the President at the 2022 National Coordination Meeting for Inflation Control, Thursday ( 18/8/2022).
This time, flight ticket prices for busy routes such as Jakarta-Bali, to Jakarta-Singapore are now sold for under Rp. 1 million.
Whereas previously, the price of plane tickets to these routes soared, not only up hundreds of thousands of rupiah but up to millions.
This increase was allegedly due to the domino effect of the Covid-19 pandemic where there was a surge in demand while the availability of aircraft was low. Plus, the increase in aviation fuel prices.
On this day (Monday, 22/8/2022) on the airline ticket sales platform, for routes such as Jakarta-Bali, flight schedules for the month of August are found with ticket prices of IDR 900 thousand.
For example, the flight schedule on Sunday (28/8/2022) is the cheapest price available for IDR 982 thousand using the Super Air Jet airline for economy class flights at 4:45 – 07.35 WIB.
While Lion Air also sells ticket prices starting from Rp. 990 thousand, Air Asia, Nam Air, and Pelita Air set the cheapest ticket price of Rp. 1 million at the same time of flight. Previously, ticket prices to Bali were difficult to find for prices below Rp. 1 million.
Cheap flight ticket prices offered by airlines also look higher if passengers plan flights. As for the upcoming (3/9/2022) flights on the same route, Super Air Jet and Pelita Air sell tickets for IDR 900 thousand.
Meanwhile, for flight routes such as Jakarta-Singapore, many now offer the cheapest ticket prices under Rp. 1 million. Like flights on the upcoming (14/8/2022), the cheapest ticket prices sold reach IDR 855 thousand with Air Asia and Jet Star IDR 1.1 million.
Although, there are still those who sell tickets for IDR 1.7 – 3 million such as KLM, Garuda Indonesia, Batik Air, Malindo, to Scoot.
