In the realm of vacation hotspots, beach clubs have emerged as top destinations for those looking to blend relaxation with vibrant entertainment. They offer a unique fusion of tranquil beach settings and upscale amenities. But here’s a surprising fact: the largest beach club globally is situated in Indonesia, on the island of Bali. Welcome to Atlas Beach Club.
Spanning an impressive 3 hectares, Atlas Beach Club can accommodate over 10,000 guests and enjoys an astounding occupancy rate of 99% throughout the year. Though it’s relatively new, having opened on July 18, 2022, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy has officially inaugurated it in 2023. This massive venue is the latest chapter in the evolution of Holywings.
Atlas Beach Club’s origins trace back to Sulawesi, where it was founded by Ivan Tanjaya, a native of Central Sulawesi. Ivan’s journey began with his education in Surabaya and later Beijing, where he studied Business Administration and Management at Raffles Academy.
During his time in Beijing, Ivan embarked on various business ventures, starting with real estate. He helped students find rental homes, which laid the financial groundwork for his next venture—an online store called Polid House.
Polid House, which initially sold gadgets such as Instax Polaroid cameras and smartphones, quickly grew into a thriving online business. However, regulatory changes forced the closure of Polid House.
Undeterred, Ivan shifted focus to other ventures, including selling toys and lifestyle products. He eventually established a logistics company named PT Andara Inti Berkat. Yet, this business also faced challenges.
Ivan’s entrepreneurial spirit led him into the food and beverage sector, where he started with a simple fried rice stall. After several ups and downs, he launched Holywings, which initially offered fried rice but evolved into a bar with live music—a concept. It is inspired by his experiences in Beijing. Holywings became known for its affordable chicken wings, cheap beer, and live music.

controversy over Atlas beach club
Despite facing hurdles during the pandemic, Holywings expanded, including a significant presence in Bali. However, the brand faced a legal challenge over offering free alcohol to people named Muhammad and Maria. As a result, the Bali beach club was rebranded as Atlas Beach Club.
Today, Atlas Beach Club stands as a global record-holder. It features 52 dining and entertainment outlets, the world’s longest swimming pool, and a workforce of over 1,000 employees. The majority of employees are 99% of being locals.
