In 2026, Bali was officially named the world’s best travel destination by TripAdvisor through its Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations awards.
The recognition places Bali at number one on the Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best Destination List 2026. This is not just another award. It is the highest position Bali has ever achieved in the history of TripAdvisor’s global rankings. For years, Bali consistently appeared in the Top 10. First place, however, had always remained out of reach. Until now.
This achievement reflects how international travelers continue to associate Bali with positive and memorable experiences. The Island of the Gods remains a symbol of Indonesian tourism, known for leaving strong emotional impressions on visitors from around the world.
Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, highlighted that traveler experiences play a central role in this recognition.
“Tourists who visit gain positive and memorable experiences when they come to Bali. TripAdvisor is a review platform, so these are honest reviews from tourists. What they feel is what they write,” Ni Made Ayu Marthini said, as quoted by Antara.
TripAdvisor’s rankings are built entirely on traveler reviews and ratings. That makes the award especially meaningful. It reflects real experiences, not promotional campaigns or official endorsements.
In the 2026 list, Bali surpassed some of the world’s most iconic destinations. These include London, which won in 2024, as well as Dubai, Hanoi, Paris, and Rome. The result places Bali firmly ahead of long established global tourism capitals.

The recognition did not stop with a single title. Alongside being named the world’s best travel destination, Bali also collected several other prestigious distinctions. It ranked first as the best honeymoon destination. It entered the Top 10 list for best cultural destinations. It also placed in the Top 10 for best solo travel destinations. In addition, Bali secured a position among the Top 20 most trending cities in the world.
Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana expressed appreciation to international travelers who contributed to the achievement through their reviews and ratings.
“Thank you for the reviews and ratings given to Bali through TripAdvisor. Bali’s selection as the world’s best travel destination by TripAdvisor shows that Bali remains a global tourism magnet,” Minister Widiyanti said.
She added that the government remains committed to ensuring Bali continues to grow as a high quality tourism destination. Efforts are focused on maintaining standards, improving visitor experiences, and supporting sustainable tourism development.
The 2026 ranking confirms what many travelers already feel. Bali is not just a place to visit. It is a destination that stays with people long after they leave.
