More companies are closing operations in Indonesia amid the corona pandemic. This time it was the turn of the Nikon camera manufacturer to say goodbye from this country.

This news was conveyed directly by Nikon Indonesia via their official Instagram account Wednesday (21/10/2020).

“After nearly 8 years of Nikon Indonesia’s journey, we inform you that today, October 21, 2020, is the last day the Imaging Division of PT Nikon Indonesia operates in Indonesia,” Nikon announced.

Despite the shutdown, service and support for Nikon customers will continue. Nikon said all sales, marketing and service activities are integrated into PT Alta Nikindo, as Nikon’s official distributor in Indonesia.

“We thank you profusely for the support and cooperation that has made Nikon as one of the most trusted photography brands in Indonesia,” Nikon said goodbye.

Nikon’s announcement was immediately greeted by sad responses from netizens on Instagram. Many people are already using Nikon cameras for various needs.

The signs for Nikon to close down its business are already there. On Wednesday morning, Nikon announced the deactivation of the Nikon Z Privilege Membership card and service starting October 21, 2020 at 23.59 local time.
