As an effort to further protect against the Covid-19 virus, the Indonesian Ministry of Health issued a circular regarding the phase 4 or booster of Covid-19 vaccination implementation for health workers starting Friday (29/7/). What about the general public?
According to the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Indonesian Ministry of Health Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, Circular Letter Number HK.02.02/C/3615/2022 regarding the second booster dose of Covid-19 vaccination for human resources in the health sector was delivered to all regions on Thursday ( 28/7/2022).
“Today a circular was made to all health offices and hospitals for the implementation of the second booster for health workers,” he said when asked for confirmation in Jakarta, Thursday (28/7/2022).
Circulars regarding the implementation of the second booster dose of Covid-19 vaccination for human resources in the health sector were conveyed to all heads of provincial and district/city health offices as well as leaders of health service facilities carrying out Covid-19 vaccinations.
According to the Ministry of Health, the second booster vaccination or fourth dose vaccination for human resources in the health sector can be carried out using a Covid-19 vaccine product that has obtained an emergency use authorization (EUA) approval from the Food and Drug Administration by taking into account the availability of vaccines.
The second booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine is given six months after the first booster vaccination.
The second booster vaccination service for human resources in the health sector is available at health service facilities and the Covid-19 vaccination service post.
Maxi said that the second booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was given to health workers with the approval of the Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ITAGI).
Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Dante Saksono Harbuwono when asked for confirmation separately, said that health workers are the frontline troops in health services who are at risk of contracting Covid-19 while on duty to serve patients.
“We know that there have been two doctors who died due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which developed with the current variant,” he said.
Furthermore, the Minister of Health or Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin explained when the general public began to receive the fourth stage of the vaccine.
“We are currently studying booster vaccinations for health workers because some of our health workers have been affected, hopefully shortly we will be able to inform the public,” concluded Minister of Health Budi.
As is known, as of July 26, 2022, the total Covid-19 vaccine doses 1 and 2 reached 169.8 million, or 81.5 percent of the target of 208 million people being vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the booster vaccine or the 3rd dose of vaccine has only reached 54 million or 26.8 percent of the total target of 208 million people.
