Regional Police of Metro Jaya removes PPKM blocking at 100 points. To control the mobility during PPKM level 4, it is carried out with an odd-even system in the DKI Jakarta area.
The odd-even in Jakarta will be enforced starting today, Thursday (August 12, 2021). There are eight odd-even points in Jakarta from 6 AM to 8 PM West Indonesia Time.
The reason for removing the PPKM blockade in DKI Jakarta is to replace it with an odd-even system for the effectiveness of controlling community mobility.
“One of the reasons why we are doing this is for effectiveness,” said the Director of Traffic, Regional Police of Metro Jaya, Sambodo Purnomo Yogo.
Sambodo said that by using the odd-even system, it would be easier for members to supervise. Police will only allow vehicles that pass according to the current date.
“If the date is odd, it means the number plate must be odd, the even date means the number plate must be even,” he said.
Odd-even in DKI Jakarta is enforced from 12 to August 16. The odd-even rule is again in effect according to the Head of Transportation Decree 320 of 2021 on August 10, 2021. Odd-even at 8 points in Jakarta from 6 AM to 8 PM Western Indonesian Time.
The 8 points include Jalan Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan Pintu Besar Selatan and Jalan Gatot Subroto.
The odd-even policy in DKI Jakarta doesn’t apply to two-wheeled vehicles or motorcycles. Only four-wheeled vehicles and above are subject to the odd-even rule.
“This applies to four wheels and above, so it does not apply to two wheels,” said Sambodo.
If the odd-even implementation is effective in suppressing community mobility, it may be extended to other points.
“And it is possible if we consider these 8 points successful and effective, then maybe during PPKM level 4 we will add other areas for mobility control with an odd-even system,” Sambodo added.
Then, does STRP still apply as a condition of travel? According to Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo. STRP is still a requirement.
Ahmad Riza Patria, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, said odd-even systems were made to reduce the residents’ mobility by adjusting the extension of PPKM level 4.
In addition, Riza also claimed that the gage application was effective in breaking down congestion. According to him, this was proven when the gage was implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
