Soekarno-Hatta international airport continues to grow. Most recently, the airport manager, PT Angkasa Pura II, will make the airport the first digital aeroplex in Indonesia with the presence of a 5G network.
AP II President Director Muhammad Awaluddin explained that Digital Aeroplex has the meaning of an airport area built with a digital ecosystem through the application of modern technology (advanced technology) to improve services and operations.
In implementing Digital Aeroplex at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, AP II collaborates with various parties, especially market leaders in the technology and communication sector.
“AP II always builds the best and latest digital infrastructure at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, where the latest is AP II’s collaboration with Telkomsel in providing 5G access at Soekarno-Hatta Airport,” he said in an official statement, Wednesday (16/3/2022).
Furthermore, Muhammad Awaluddin said the 5G network is the latest generation (fifth generation) in wireless technology to experience super-fast internet-like experiences in the world. Moreover, the network supports digital experiences such as the use of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) to experience the metaverse world.
He explained, “The 5G network is the latest technology that can change the way we live our lives. The implementation of 5G is still growing in Indonesia, and we are grateful that Soekarno-Hatta Airport is one of the fastest locations to provide Telkomsel 5G access for travelers to experience this latest wireless technology standard,” he explained.
Awaluddin said this 5G access became a new standard of service for airplane passengers in Indonesia. In the early stages, several collaborations based on 5G technology that will be developed include 5G Fixed Wireless Access, 5G Experience Corner, and 5G Solution services from the Telkomsel Enterprise business unit to support AP II operations.
The 5G access that will be available at Soekarno-Hatta airport is thanks to Telkomsel, which can present the 5G network as the best digital experience for travelers.
He ensured that later, the 5G network would become the network standard at several other airports, not only at Soekarno-Hatta airport.
“AP II in the future will strive to present 5G networks at other airports as a service and operational standard,” he added.
