The scarcity of diesel fuel (Solar) has occurred in several areas recently. In response to this, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, a subsidiary of Pertamina, opened its voice. They call the scarcity of diesel fuel due to increasing demand.

Currently, several areas are experiencing a shortage of diesel fuel, such as South Sumatra, Bengkulu, to Riau. Each regional head even had to intervene directly to solve the shortage of diesel fuel.

Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga Irto Ginting, said, “Indeed, there is an increase in demand (diesel fuel) in line with economic growth.”

Despite the scarcity, he ensures that the stock of diesel fuel is maintained for the next 20 days and its distribution will be carried out according to the quota set by the government.

“Our stock is safe at the level of 20 days. For distribution, it must be adjusted to the quota set by the government,” he said.

Irto claimed that his party had normalized the demand for diesel by realizing subsidies of up to more than 10 percent of the existing quota. The company has also coordinated with local governments to help secure services at gas stations.

“We have coordinated with the regional government and the police to help secure and arrange services at gas stations,” he said.

Pertamina also ensures the availability of non-subsidized diesel, such as Dexlite and Pertamina Dex, to reach consumers.

Furthermore, responding to the scarcity of diesel in several areas, Irto revealed that there was a misappropriation of diesel subsidies in South Sumatra and Bangka Belitung. Currently, the authorities have arrested individuals who play with diesel fuel.

He said that it was these elements that made diesel fuel rare.

“We appreciate the police who have arrested the person who misappropriated the subsidized diesel fuel. This is because there is a price disparity between the price of subsidized fuel and non-subsidized fuel. So, there are people who take advantage in conditions like this,” he said.
