The allure of Bali’s tourism industry is showing no signs of waning. The latest data reveals that hotel occupancy rates in the Nusa Dua area of Badung Regency have soared to impressive heights. In the first half of 2024, occupancy rates reached 71.74%, a figure that not only surpasses the pre-pandemic level of 69.57% in the same period of 2019 but also marks a significant increase compared to 2023.

“Comparing to the same period in 2023, there’s a notable 14.5% rise from the previous 62%,” stated I Made Agus Dwiatmika, the General Manager of the state-owned PT Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in Nusa Dua, Badung Regency, Bali, on Wednesday (31/7/2024).

Dwiatmika attributed this remarkable growth to several key factors. He highlighted the effective promotional activities for the area, the influx of tourists during holiday seasons and school breaks, and a series of conventions and state events that have taken place in this elite zone.

Additionally, the presence of comprehensive facilities and the high standards maintained by the area’s hotels have played a crucial role in boosting tourist confidence.

“The completeness of the facilities and the management of the area, along with hotels meeting international standards, significantly contribute to increasing tourist confidence to stay and vacation here,” Dwiatmika explained.

The first six months of 2024 witnessed varying occupancy rates, with June marking the peak at 80%, while March recorded the lowest at 64%. This fluctuation is in line with the seasonal nature of tourism and the scheduling of various events.

The data also indicates that domestic tourists dominate the visitor demographics, with 673,000 people choosing to stay overnight, reflecting a 47% growth compared to 456,000 in the same period of 2023.

Overall, the total number of visitors to the area’s tourist facilities from January to June 2024 reached 703,000. These figures include visits to attractions such as Water Blow, Peninsula, museums, cultural performances, golf courses, and spa services.

The first half of 2024 also saw the Nusa Dua area hosting several high-profile international conventions. Among these were the Asia Pacific tourism industry meetings, various music and health events, running competitions, and the 10th World Water Forum. The 32-hectare area is well-equipped to handle such large-scale events, further cementing its status as a premier destination for international gatherings.

Looking ahead, Dwiatmika expressed optimism about the occupancy rates for the latter half of 2024. He pointed to the upcoming holidays and a robust schedule of international events as key drivers of continued growth. Notable events include the Indonesia-Africa Summit in September 2024, alongside other significant international conferences and conventions.

The state-owned management area, known for its MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities, is capable of accommodating over 21,000 delegates for large-scale events and provides more than 5,000 hotel rooms. This infrastructure positions Nusa Dua as a leading destination for both leisure and business travelers.

With its strategic initiatives and robust infrastructure, Bali’s tourism sector, particularly in Nusa Dua, is poised for sustained growth and success.
