The number of foreign workers working in Indonesia has decreased. In fact, the Ministry of Manpower noted that the number of foreign workers (TKA) in Indonesia was 88,271 people in 2021. This number decreased by 5.86% compared to the previous year.

The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) noted that the number of foreign workers (TKA) in Indonesia was 88,271 people in 2021. This number decreased by 5.86% compared to the previous year which reached 93,761 people.

The number of foreign workers in Indonesia increased from 2013 to 2019. Whereas initially, foreign workers in Indonesia numbered 70,120 people in 2013. That number continued to grow until it reached its peak in 2019. At that time, Indonesia recorded the arrival of 109,546 foreign workers.

There are several things that have caused the decline in the number of foreign workers working in Indonesia. This began with the reduction in the number of foreign workers when the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia in 2020 and 2021. The reason is that the government has tightened restrictions on foreigners who enter the country to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, regarding the distribution of the fields of work for foreign workers, the Ministry of Manpower noted that the majority of foreign workers in Indonesia work in the service business sector, namely 46,795 people.

Furthermore, a total of 39,225 foreign workers work in the industrial sector. Meanwhile, 2,251 foreign workers work in the agricultural and maritime sectors.

Based on their level of position, most foreign workers occupy professional positions, namely 38,745 people. A total of 20,807 foreign workers served as consultants.

Then, there are 19,127 foreign workers who work as managers. Meanwhile, foreign workers who occupy the positions of directors and commissioners are 8,936 people and 656 people, respectively.

On the other hand, in the middle of last Saturday (26/3/2022) in Tangerang City, the Tangerang City Government noted, there has been an increase in the number of applications for work permits from foreign nationals (WNA) who have worked in several companies and industries since the last 2 months.

This was stated by the Head of the Division of Manpower Placement and Expansion of Job Opportunities, Tangerang City Manpower Office, Mualim.

He added that in 2021, the number of foreign workers who were recorded working in Tangerang City amounted to 725 foreign workers.

“From our records during 2021, there are 725 foreign workers working in Tangerang City, with details of 411 foreign workers extending their existing permits and work permits in Tangerang City and 314 foreign workers are new foreign workers who have just worked in Tangerang City. So until February 2022, there are 898 foreign workers or TKA who work in Tangerang City,” he said.
