The launch of the Whoosh High-Speed Rail in Karawang on December 24, 2024, has triggered a surge in demand for properties in the area, especially those near the Whoosh station. The high-speed train is not just a mode of transport but a catalyst for change, reshaping the property landscape and urban development in this growing region.
According to Rudy Susanto, CMO of Citra Swarga Group (CSG), the opening of the Whoosh station has been a game-changer for residents. “The Whoosh station has had a positive impact on the Karawang community, particularly for projects like Kartika Residence and Citra Grande. Residents are excited about the convenience the station offers for their daily activities,” he said on Wednesday (January 8, 2025),quoted from CNBC Indonesia.
To further enhance accessibility, CSG plans to introduce shuttle bus services connecting Kartika Residence and Citra Grande to the Whoosh Karawang station. Rudy explained, “CSG is planning to provide shuttle transportation to and from the Whoosh station. This will make commuting easier for residents who rely on the high-speed train.”
The Whoosh Karawang station is not just a transport hub; it is a centerpiece of a broader Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) initiative. This project integrates exclusive housing, public facilities, shopping centers, and transportation systems, creating a modern, urban-friendly living environment.
“The Whoosh High-Speed Rail doesn’t just accelerate intercity travel—it’s driving significant transformation in Karawang’s property sector,” Rudy emphasized. “This region is now on track to becoming one of West Java’s most desirable premium residential areas. It’s a golden opportunity for developers, investors, and residents looking for modern homes with exceptional accessibility.”

The growing popularity of the Whoosh service is reflected in ticket sales. PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) reported an impressive 370,000 tickets sold for the Jakarta-Bandung route during the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year holiday season. This marked a 22% increase compared to the same period the previous year, which recorded 302,000 passengers.
Eva Chairunisa, General Manager Corporate Secretary at KCIC, shared further details. “Of the 370,000 tickets sold, 350,000 represent journeys already completed between December 19, 2024, and January 4, 2025. The remaining tickets were for trips scheduled on January 5-6, 2025,” she noted.
The Whoosh High-Speed Rail is not only a transport innovation but also a driver of progress for Karawang, paving the way for a brighter future in urban living and property development.
