With the 2025 Eid holiday season approaching, millions are expected to embark on their annual homecoming trips. Jasa Marga projects that 2.18 million vehicles will hit the roads during the travel period, marking a 1.1% increase from last year. The peak of this mass movement is anticipated on March 28, 2025, or three days before Eid (H-3), when traffic in Jakarta is predicted to surge to 232,401 vehicles—a staggering 50% rise compared to regular conditions.

This forecast was announced during a press conference at the Jasa Marga Traffic Information Center on March 19, 2025. Officials also outlined predictions for outbound traffic from Jakarta between March 21 and April 1, 2025 (H-10 to H+2). Throughout this period, an estimated 2,178,653 vehicles are expected to pass through four major toll gates:

  • Cikampek Utama Toll Gate (towards Trans Java)
  • Kalihurip Toll Gate (towards Bandung)
  • Ciawi Toll Gate (towards Puncak)
  • Cikupa Toll Gate (towards Merak)

Jasa Marga’s Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana, emphasized the significant traffic spike expected on March 28. “We predict the peak of the homecoming rush will be on March 28, 2025, with 232,401 vehicles—up 50% from normal traffic levels,” she stated on March 20, 2025.

While outbound traffic will be intense, the return flow into Jakarta is also expected to be substantial. Between March 31 and April 11, 2025 (H+1 to H+10), Jasa Marga projects 2,292,903 vehicles re-entering the capital. However, unlike the homecoming rush, return traffic is expected to see a 0.5% decline compared to 2024.

The busiest day for return traffic is forecasted to be Sunday, April 6, 2025 (H+5), when an estimated 276,006 vehicles will flood Jakarta’s toll roads. This marks a 62% increase over regular conditions, signaling heavy congestion on major routes.

In response to growing electric vehicle (EV) usage, Jasa Marga is also expanding its charging infrastructure along key highways. “We anticipate an increase in EV users, so we are adding 13 more public charging stations (SPKLU), bringing the total to 127 units across Jasa Marga Group rest areas,” Lisye confirmed.

With traffic volumes set to spike, authorities urge travelers to plan their journeys wisely to avoid getting caught in massive congestion.
