In the highly anticipated FIFA Matchday friendly match scheduled for today (19/6), Indonesia will face Argentina, the reigning champions of the 2022 World Cup. With a tremendous level of enthusiasm surrounding the event, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has announced that they will implement extensive traffic management strategies to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles and maintain public safety.

Commissioner Pol Latif Usman, the Chief of the Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, has emphasized the deployment of 220 traffic personnel for today’s FIFA Matchday friendly match. This significant presence aims to effectively manage and regulate traffic movement in the vicinity.

Expressing concerns about the anticipated influx of spectators, especially along Sudirman Road and the Senayan area, Latif urges motorists to steer clear of the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) region during the afternoon.

He states, “During this time, we expect a high concentration of people heading towards GBK to witness the football match, both during its commencement and conclusion.”

To alleviate traffic congestion and facilitate smooth access to the stadium, Latif encourages the public to utilize public transportation alternatives such as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and Transjakarta buses. By doing so, the aim is to optimize traffic flow, minimize bottlenecks, and streamline the entry process into the designated parking areas.

To ensure the effective implementation of traffic engineering measures, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has outlined specific strategies for different routes and intersections.

These measures have been devised to cater to the expected traffic flow during the match. Latif provides a detailed overview of the arrangements, highlighting the redirection and prioritization of traffic flows in key areas:

  1. Vehicles traveling from Gatot Subroto Road towards Gerbang Pemuda Street will be directed to proceed straight towards the Slipi area, enabling efficient movement and minimizing congestion.
  2. Traffic originating from Slipi will be directed to continue straight towards the Semanggi area, with no access permitted towards Layang Landokgi, focusing traffic towards Jl. Gerbang Pemuda.
  3. Vehicles coming from Bundaran Senayan and heading towards Jl. Pintu Satu Senayan will be guided to proceed straight along Jl. Jenderal Sudirman towards Semanggi, ensuring smoother traffic flow and reducing potential bottlenecks.
  4. Motorists traveling along Mustopo Street towards Asia Afrika Street will be redirected to make a right turn onto Jl. Hang Tuah Raya, enhancing traffic distribution and avoiding congestion.
  5. Traffic from Patal Senayan 1 Street, heading towards Asia Afrika Street, will be redirected to turn left onto Jl. Tentara Pelajar, providing an alternate route and easing traffic congestion in the area.
  6. Vehicles approaching Tentara Pelajar Street from the JL. Tentara Pelajar area will be directed to proceed straight towards JL. Permata Hijau, ensuring a steady flow of traffic and reducing congestion around the vicinity.
  7. Traffic from Manggala Wanabakti Street, heading towards JL. Lapangan Tembak, will be directed straight towards JL. Tentara Pelajar, optimizing traffic distribution and minimizing congestion in the surrounding area.

By implementing these comprehensive traffic management strategies, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police aims to ensure the safety and convenience of both match attendees and the general public.

The provision of clear directives, coupled with the utilization of public transportation options, will contribute to a smoother traffic flow and a more enjoyable experience for all participants.

It is important for motorists and the public to stay informed about these traffic arrangements and heed the guidance provided by the authorities. By following these guidelines and cooperating with traffic personnel, individuals can contribute to the overall success of the event while minimizing potential disruptions and delays during the FIFA Matchday friendly match.
