The development of technology is one of the Indonesian government focuses amid global digitalization. This time, the government is preparing a new technology, namely Web 3.0 to prepare for the future.
Special Advisor to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) for Information and Technology, Prof. Yohanes Surya explained that this technology is not only receiving information, but everyone will be free to communicate with others safely (peer to peer).
“Yesterday in Bali we discussed with President [Jokowi] about how Indonesia is developing web 3.0 and training on GASING arithmetic,” said Prof. Yohanes in Jakarta, Sunday (27/3/2022).
Previously, Indonesia had utilized web technology. 1.0 and web. 2.0. However, both of these technologies each have limitations, namely the web. 1.0 can only receive one-way information systems and the web. 2.0 bidirectional.
Meanwhile, web. 3.0, according to Prof. Yohanes, is decentralized, that is, everyone is free to communicate with others. In other words, each person becomes their own Facebook/YouTube/Gojek/Tokopedia. Thus, they can post anything, anytime, and spread all over the world.
“This is the web of the future. Communication is guaranteed safe because it uses blockchain (protected by smart contracts),” he said.
For information, Web 3.0 is an advanced version of internet development that imagines a decentralized ecosystem based on blockchain technology.
It would mark a departure from the centralized mega-platforms and corporations that dominate the ecosystem currently and proponents claim.
Web 3.0 is the latest internet technology that leverages machine learning and blockchain to achieve real-world human communication using artificial intelligence. The icing on the cake is that web 3.0 not only allows individuals to own their data but they will be compensated for their time spent on the web.
Web 3.0 is a completely new sector that provides individuals with options that are just not accessible at larger, more established firms. This allows users to communicate with the world’s best brains. As a result, being skilled in this area is a struggle, but a very rewarding one.
Web 3.0 offers millions of workers a change of pace and the opportunity to live a more rewarding working life. Many changes have been made in the way we look at adopting blockchain and digital assets, driving thousands of engineers, investors, and businesses to go to areas with favorable regulations.
