The upcoming U-20 World Cup Drawing will take place in Bali on March 31, 2023, following the G20 Summit. The event is scheduled to take place from May 20 to June 11, 2023. This will be one of several international events hosted in Bali that are expected to boost tourism and have a positive impact on Bali’s economic recovery.

Professor I Putu Anom, an expert in tourism, believes that various international events held in Bali, including the U-20 World Cup, will attract supporters from various countries and regions to visit Bali, leading to an increase in tourist arrivals.

He said, “Several national and international events are expected to be held in Bali in the future, which will have a positive impact on Bali’s tourism and economy.”

Since Indonesia, including Bali, was opened up as a leading tourism destination, there has been an increase in domestic and international tourist arrivals since 2022. The G20 Summit held in Bali in November 2022 is said to have increased tourist arrivals to Bali.

According to Prof. Anom, the increase in tourist arrivals has boosted Bali’s economic growth to around 8% in the third quarter of 2022, with an average economic growth rate of around 5% for the year.

This increase in tourism activity is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s foreign exchange earnings, regional revenue, and the private sector, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that support the tourism industry.

Prof. Anom believes that an increase in tourist arrivals to Bali will also lead to an increase in revenue from tourism attraction fees and cultural activities.

Furthermore, it will drive economic activity in Bali and in other regions that supply the needs of Bali’s economy, leading to more job opportunities and increased income for the local population.
