Stepping into a snowy winter usually means boarding a plane and flying far from home. This year, that feeling arrives much closer. Right in the heart of West Jakarta, an indoor snow attraction turns the year-end holiday into a winter escape that feels almost unreal.
Located at the Center Court on the Lower Ground floor of Mal Ciputra Jakarta, the attraction is titled “Christmas Aurora.” Inside, visitors enter a snow house or cold room set at minus five degrees Celsius. The temperature alone is enough to make people forget they are still in Jakarta.
“We are working with ice carving artists who have participated for several years in international competitions held in Sapporo, Japan,” said Mal Ciputra Jakarta General Manager Ferry Irianto during a press conference at Mal Ciputra on Friday (12/12/2025).
The snow attraction is divided into two main areas. The Snow Playground sits outside for lighter activities. The Snow House is indoors and becomes the main highlight, filled with ice carving artworks displayed in a frozen setting.
Inside the cold room, visitors are greeted by detailed ice sculptures carved with precision. Bears, penguins, wolves, and deer stand among the frozen displays. There are also Christmas trees made of ice and an ice slide that visitors can actually ride. The space feels playful, yet artistic at the same time.
Behind the scenes, the work required serious effort. Artist and Chairman of the Indonesian Ice Carving Association, Bambang Supriyanto, spent four days carving around 1,200 ice blocks to complete the installation. Creating ice art in Indonesia, he said, comes with its own challenges due to the climate.

“Ice carving was actually created for wood. When working with ice, there is a water element, making it slippery, so it requires more effort,” Bambang said at the same event.
The Snow House and Playground at Mal Ciputra Jakarta are open throughout the year-end holiday period, from December 7, 2025, until January 18, 2026. Visitors can enter daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. WIB.
A single session lasts 30 minutes and costs Rp 100,000 per person. The ticket includes the rental of a jacket and boots, allowing visitors to stay warm inside the cold room. For those paying via myBCA QRIS, a Rp 20,000 discount is available every Saturday and Sunday for the first 50 transactions each day.
Children under five years old are welcome, but they must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Safety and comfort are taken seriously. Every visitor must wear gloves, socks, a jacket, and boots before entering the Snow Playground and Snow House. For those who do not bring them, socks and gloves are available on-site for Rp 15,000 per pair.
As families look for fresh ways to enjoy the holiday season together, this indoor snow experience in Jakarta offers something different. Cold air, ice sculptures, and winter fun come together under one roof, creating a festive escape without ever leaving the city.
