A British national, identified as KSM, has been arrested in Bali for misusing his visit stay permit in Indonesia (ITK) to run an illegal business. His case adds to a growing list of foreigners caught violating Indonesia’s strict immigration rules, which can result in deportation, hefty fines, or even entry bans.
Many foreigners in Bali unknowingly or deliberately use their visas for work or business without proper authorization. KSM, who held a visit stay permit in Indonesia (ITK), was caught running a motorcycle rental business in Nusa Penida, Klungkung Regency, Bali.
“He misused his stay permit by advertising and renting out motorbikes,” said Ridha Sah Putra, Head of the Denpasar Immigration Office, on Tuesday (4/3/2025).
According to Ridha, KSM had been operating the business for around a year and a half, targeting fellow foreign tourists visiting Nusa Penida. Each motorbike was rented out for IDR 150,000 per day, with an average of three to four units rented daily.

“The case was uncovered following reports from local residents who felt disadvantaged by the foreigner’s activities,” Ridha added.
The Denpasar Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team monitored the situation and arrested KSM on Saturday (25/1/2025). “So far, our investigation indicates that he only operated his rental business in Nusa Penida,” Ridha stated.
KSM is currently being held at the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center and will soon be deported to his home country. Authorities continue to remind all foreign visitors to comply with their visa regulations or face severe penalties.
