The roar of engines at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit marked a new milestone for Indonesia’s motorsport scene. The 2025 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, better known as MotoGP Mandalika 2025, not only thrilled fans but also made history as the best-organized edition since its debut. With a staggering 142,000 spectators in attendance, it became one of the most-watched MotoGP races in Southeast Asia.

Excitement reached new heights this year, drawing crowds from across Indonesia and around the world. The event showcased world-class organization, combining flawless technical management, improved audience services, and stronger infrastructure support.

Chair of the 2025 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, Troy Warokka, highlighted that this success reflects Indonesia’s growing reputation on the global stage.

“This achievement is not only a source of national pride but also a real contribution to the people of Lombok and NTB through tourism growth, creative economy, and our international reputation,” Troy said on Sunday (Oct 5).

During the MotoGP week, the NTB Tourism Office reported hotel occupancy on Lombok Island reaching 93 percent. In The Mandalika area, rooms were fully booked, while Mataram City recorded 90 percent occupancy. The demand for accommodation even exceeded availability, filling up hotels, small inns, villas, and homestays alike. This surge clearly showed that MotoGP Mandalika has become a major force driving tourism in Lombok.

Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir noted that the event brought significant benefits beyond the racetrack. The 2025 MotoGP Mandalika generated an estimated Rp4.8 trillion for the national economy.

“MotoGP Mandalika is not just a race; it’s a powerful global promotion for Indonesia,” he stated. Erick also credited the strong coordination between the central government, regional administrations, and industry partners as the foundation of this year’s successful event.

Despite the impressive achievements, Erick emphasized that continuous evaluation remains essential to ensure future improvements. The government plans to enhance tourism facilities, expand accommodation options, and attract new investments in the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ). “If Indonesia could build Nusa Dua in Bali, Mandalika can certainly become the next international tourism icon,” Erick said confidently.

The success of MotoGP Mandalika 2025 demonstrated that Indonesia is ready to host world-class events. Beyond the race itself, it has strengthened local tourism, empowered the regional economy, and positioned Lombok as one of Asia’s most promising travel destinations.
