Mount Anak Krakatau is erupting again. In fact, this time the mountain spewed volcanic ash as high as 800 meters.

Based on the Geological Agency report, the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau occurred at 10.25 WIB, Friday (4/2/2022). Bursts of volcanic ash reached 800 meters from the summit or 957 meters above sea level.

The Geological Agency on its official website, Friday (4/2/2022), reported, “The eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau occurred on Friday, February 4, 2022, at 10.25 WIB with the height of the ash column observed approximately 800 meters above the peak of approximately 957 meters. meters above sea level.”

Based on observations from the Geological Agency, the column of volcanic ash that erupted was gray with thick intensity. The direction of the volcanic ash burst is to the southwest of the mountain. According to them, the eruption has the potential to cause high waves.

The ash column is observed to be gray with thick intensity towards the southwest. This eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 45 mm and a duration of 49 seconds.

With the eruption, Mount Anak Krakatau is currently at level II or Alert. The public or tourists are prohibited from approaching the crater within a radius of 2 kilometers from the crater of the mountain.

Regarding the accompanying earthquake, organic tremor earthquakes have occurred twice (amplitude: 8-13 mm, duration: 227-742 seconds). Then, once low frequency (amplitude: 6 mm, duration 5 seconds), shallow volcanic twice (amplitude 7-12 mm, duration 8-10 seconds), and deep volcanic three times (amplitude: 27-34 mm, SP: 2-3.6 seconds, duration 11-15 seconds).

Mount Anak Krakatau is not the first time it has erupted this year. Mount Anak Krakatau was recorded to have erupted for the first time in 2022 on Thursday (3/2). The height of the ash column due to the eruption reached 200 meters or lower than the eruption that occurred today.
