PPKM in Jabodetabek Down to Level 1 in a Day

The Community Activities Restrictions Enforcement (PPKM) in the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas dropped to level 1. The PPKM level in these areas fell after previously being at level 2.

The regulation is based on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) number 35 regarding PPKM on Covid-19 conditions in Java and Bali which is valid until August 1, 2022. The regulation has also been signed by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian on July 5, 2022.

“The Governor of DKI Jakarta for the Regency/City area with level 1 (one) criteria, namely the Thousand Islands Administrative District, West Jakarta Administrative City, East Jakarta Administrative City, South Jakarta Administrative City, North Jakarta Administrative City, and Central Jakarta Administrative City,” wrote The Minister of Home Affairs, quoted on Wednesday (6/7/2022).

The determination of the regional level, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, is guided by the community transmission indicator on the indicators for adjusting public health efforts and social restrictions in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic set by the health minister.

Previously, the government again extended the implementation of community activity restrictions (PPKM) in Java and Bali from 5 July to 1 August 2022. The PPKM extension was carried out as a government strategy to control the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia.

In the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 33 of 20222 concerning the Enforcement of Restrictions on Community Activities Level 2 and Level 1 of Coronavirus Disease 2019 in the Java-Bali Region, which took effect on Tuesday (5/7/2022), that the Jabodetabek area is included in PPKM level 2.

The Director-General of Advil and Regional Development and also Deputy Chair III of the National Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Safrizal previously also said that during the PPKM implementation this time there needed to be serious attention to all parties, especially Java-Bali, which again had areas with PPKM Level 2 status.

“Recently, we have seen an increase in Covid-19 cases due to the spread of BA.4 and BA.5 variants. Several areas had to be raised to Level 2, namely DKI Jakarta Province, Tangerang City, Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang City, Bogor City, Bekasi City, Depok City, Bogor Regency, Bekasi Regency, and Sorong Regency,” said Safrizal in an official statement as quoted on Tuesday (5/7/2022).
