Telkom President Director Ririek Adriansyah said that Telkom’s move to become a digital telco is starting to show good results with positive growth in 2021.

“This achievement cannot be separated from the company’s consistency in carrying out digital transformation, strengthening digital capabilities, and innovating in various aspects. This time the Five Bold Moves strategy is Telkom’s priority to strengthen the company’s competitive advantages to accelerate the realization of the vision of becoming a world-class leading digital telco, ” he said in a written statement, Wednesday (20/4/2022).

As is known, Telkom focuses on developing three digital business domains, namely digital connectivity, platforms, and services. In addition, it continuously develops its digital capabilities through three strategies, namely build (build its capacity), borrow (establish strategic partnerships with tech giants/global partners), and buy (through selective investment).

As for building the company’s competitive advantages, Telkom has launched five main strategies known as the Five Bold Moves strategy. This also strengthens the steps to becoming a world-class digital telco with the long-term goal of providing optimal value creation for stakeholders and the community.

The Five Bold Moves strategy, which has been implemented since 2021, on November 22, 2021, realizes the main strategy of unlocking the telecommunication tower business through the corporate action of Mitratel’s initial public offering (IPO) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange.

Mitratel managed to raise funds of up to Rp 18.8 trillion, of which 90% will be used for capital expenditures to develop business both organically and inorganically.

“After successfully unlocking the Mitratel tower business, Telkom is now focusing on pushing the other four strategies that we are targeting to be realized by the end of 2023,” said Ririek.

Four other strategies are still being intensively accelerated, namely the acceleration of digital business in a structured manner through the establishment of a Digital Company (DigiCo), unlocking the data center business, strengthening the B2B IT Services business, and initiating the integration of the broadband business (fixed-mobile convergence/FMC).

In the Fixed Line segment, IndiHome is still one of the main contributors to Telkom’s revenue growth with a total contribution to revenue of 18.4% at the end of 2021 from 16.3% in the same period last year. IndiHome posted revenue of Rp 26.3 trillion which grew 18.5% YoY.

Meanwhile, IndiHome’s EBITDA margin also increased to 46.7% at the end of 2021. This was driven by the addition of 585 thousand new customers so that IndiHome’s total subscribers in December 2021 reached 8.6 million or grew 7.3% YoY.

IndiHome also continuously enriches content through strategic partnerships with global content providers, such as Disney+ Hotstar and Lionsgate Play.

Furthermore, in the mobile segment, Telkomsel managed to record revenue for the 2021 fiscal year of IDR 87.5 trillion with net profit growth of 4.4% YoY. Telkomsel’s digital business revenue reached Rp 68.2 trillion or grew 9.5% YoY.

This achievement was supported by an increasing customer base reaching 176.0 million subscribers or growing 3.8% YoY, with mobile data users reaching 120.5 million subscribers or growing 3.9% YoY. Data traffic grew 43.3% from the same period last year to 13,513 petabytes.

Furthermore, aggressive infrastructure development will continue to be carried out so that Telkomsel’s digital services run optimally. Total BTS owned by the end of 2021 reached 251,116 units or grew 8.6% YoY, of which 80% were based on 3G/4G/5G, of which 137,613 BTS with 4G technology and 113 BTS were 5G BTS.

This year, Telkom will allocate the use of net profit to focus on digital business development, which is in line with the Five Bold Moves strategy.
