The Indonesian government has officially opened a route for international arrivals to Indonesia via the Bali route and the Riau Islands.

As of last Friday (4/2), tourists can travel to Bali again. But in fact, the Indonesian government has issued hundreds of e-Visas in the last 4 months.

According to reports circulating, foreign tourists with a B211A Tourist Visit Visa who come to Bali and the Riau Islands are allowed to visit other areas and return to their country from the Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) in those areas.

Director of Immigration Traffic of the Directorate General of Immigration, Amran Aris in his remarks at the Socialization and Dissemination of E-Visa for Tourist Visits in Bali stated, “Foreigners who come with tourist visas do not have to go through Bali, they can go through other areas, for example, if you want to stop by to Labuan Bajo.”

However, the fact is that in the period 15 October 2021 – 28 January 2022, a total of 273 Electronic Visas (e-Visa) for Tourist Visits have been issued to foreigners to be able to travel to Bali and the Riau Islands.

It was noted that the most foreign tourists came from India with 47 people, followed by France with 42, South Korea with 20, Spain with 17 and Sweden with 16.

Amran added that the mechanism for issuing visas for tourism is an agreement from all stakeholders. The Directorate General of Immigration follows the applicable regulations, namely Menkumham Regulation No. 34 of 2021 and the SE Task Force for Handling Covid-19 No. 4 the Year 2022

However, foreign tourists visiting Indonesia are required to have health insurance. This is requested directly by the relevant ministries and institutions to prevent the risks that may arise.

However, the large amount of health insurance coverage is one of the obstacles for potential foreign tourists who want to travel to Bali. Therefore, the value of the health insurance coverage was adjusted, from USD 100,000 to USD 25,000. Proof of health insurance needs to be prepared when foreigners arrive in Bali so that they can be shown during document inspection.
