The government through the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) has given several digital platforms a deadline of July 21 to immediately register with the Private Scope Electronic System Operator (PSE). If not, Kominfo will block these digital platforms in the next 3 days.
It is known that several popular digital platforms in Indonesia that have not been registered include Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Netflix.
This rule is mandated by Government Regulation Number 71 of 2019 concerning Electronic System and Transaction Operators, as well as Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 5 of 2020 concerning Private Scope Electronic System Operators (PSE).
Previously, Kominfo had repeatedly appealed to PSEs to register immediately. Kominfo also did not see the origin of the company from Maja. Kominfo only implements the rules and regulations applied by Private Scope PSEs, in which all PSEs are required to register with the state.
This is in line with what was conveyed by Johnny G. Plate as the Minister of Communication and Information. He conveyed, that all PSE organizers of Private Scope, both pure and pure private entities that are state-owned enterprises, are required to register for PSE to complete the statutory requirements no later than July 20, 2022.
Johnny also added that PSE registration is easy and not complicated because it can be done via OSS (online single submission). The registration rules are expected to realize security and compliance with state regulations.
“I do not separate whether this is a global PSE or a local PSE, but private PSEs, both pure private and state-owned enterprises, must register. Public PSEs such as PeduliLindung for example also need to register, the mechanism is a public PSE registration mechanism. PSE is public,” said Johnny.
Johnny again added that one of the PSEs registered with PeduliLindung. PeduliLindung is included in the public PSE category, which when registering uses the public PSE mechanism.
In addition to PeduliLindung, the major PSEs that have registered for PSE are Spotify, Gojek, Tokopedia, Traveloka, TikTok, Ovo, Resso, Linktree, Mi Chat, Capcut, Helo, and Dailymotion.
As for the PSE that have not been registered, the official website for the PSE list of Kominfo is YouTube, Google, Youtube, and Meta and its subsidiaries, namely Whatsapp, Instagram, and Facebook. In addition, other PSEs have not been registered, namely Netflix, Twitter, PUBG Mobile, and Mobile Legends.
