Indonesia’s immigration services have taken another step forward in enhancing accessibility for the public. On October 8, 2024, the Directorate General of Immigration officially launched its newest Immigration Lounge at Taman Anggrek Mall, West Jakarta. This lounge is the third of its kind, following successful openings at Pondok Indah Mall and Senayan City, offering a more convenient and productive option for accessing immigration services.
“This is one of the solutions for the people of Indonesia, particularly those in West Jakarta,” said Silmy Karim, Director General of Immigration, during the launch event.
The lounge, which spans 200 square meters, includes a 120-square-meter service area and an 80-square-meter back office. It has been designed to cater to both Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals, providing essential services like passport issuance and visa extensions.
During the opening ceremony, Silmy took time to tour the new facility. The lounge offers four counters dedicated to passport services for Indonesian citizens, including expedited passport processing, and two counters for foreign nationals seeking visa extensions. By establishing this lounge, the Directorate General aims to make immigration services more accessible and help Indonesians maintain productivity while fulfilling their travel-related needs.
“We want to make it easier for people to access immigration services while staying productive,” Silmy emphasized.
A key feature of the Taman Anggrek Mall lounge is its strategic location, which was chosen to ensure easy access for a large number of people.
“The decision to place this lounge in the mall came down to its prime location and the quick response from the mall’s management. It was a perfect match,” said Silmy. The lounge offers rapid services such as one-hour passport processing and visa extensions, including visa-on-arrival services for foreign nationals.
Beyond its core immigration functions, the lounge also focuses on family-friendly facilities, such as a lactation room for nursing mothers and a play area for children.
“We’re paying special attention to women and families by offering facilities that cater to their needs,” Silmy pointed out, highlighting the broader vision of the immigration department to enhance user experience through thoughtful amenities.

The launch event itself started promptly at 2:00 PM, with Silmy delivering his remarks at 2:15 PM. The services within the lounge are divided between Indonesian citizens and foreign nationals.
Indonesian citizens can handle passport issuance and expedited services at four designated counters, while foreign nationals can seek visa-related services at two other counters. The inclusion of family-friendly spaces like a lactation room and play area further underscores the department’s commitment to addressing the holistic needs of its customers.
With the addition of the Taman Anggrek Mall location, Indonesia’s immigration services are increasingly becoming more accessible, providing convenient options that fit into the busy lives of its citizens and visitors. This latest initiative is part of the broader effort to modernize and improve the efficiency of immigration services across the country.
