Bali is experiencing a shift in its tourism focus, moving beyond just natural and cultural attractions to embrace the growing field of medical tourism. This evolution doesn’t stop at curative healthcare services, but extends into wellness and beauty tourism. One prime example of this transformation is Soulshine Bali, the world’s first sound and wellness resort, located amidst the serene countryside of Ubud. The resort is becoming a popular retreat for those seeking peace, relaxation, and a unique wellness experience.

Soulshine Bali’s distinctive feature lies in its combination of music and tranquility, offering tourists a refreshing blend of relaxation and inner peace. Founded by American musician and poet Michael Franti, alongside his wife Sara Agah Franti, a Canadian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Soulshine Bali offers 33 meticulously designed rooms.

These range from secluded garden hideaways to luxurious penthouse suites boasting spectacular views. Each corner of the resort is crafted to merge modern elegance with traditional Balinese aesthetics, providing a comforting yet immersive experience in nature.

Quoted from Kabarnusa, the General Manager of Soulshine Bali, Agus Suananda, described the resort not merely as a destination but as a place where guests can disconnect from their busy lives and find new inspiration.

“As the first sound and wellness resort in the world, we are committed to creating a space where guests can experience peace, happiness, and the freedom to be their true selves,” Suananda shared on Thursday, October 24, 2024.

Looking ahead, Soulshine is preparing to expand. In February 2025, the resort will open seven new rooms, known as The Sanctuary, further enhancing the guest experience and providing additional spaces for relaxation.

The resort promotes a “100% healthy, 90% of the time” lifestyle philosophy. Soulshine’s culinary offerings through Soul Bar, Stay Human, and Togetherness reflect this principle, serving a range of food and beverages designed to refresh both body and soul. Togetherness also features a nightly Sunset House DJ, where visitors can unwind with live DJ performances.

This November, Soulshine Bali will unveil a new addition—the Sunset Deck. This scenic area, overlooking Ubud’s picturesque landscape, offers guests the perfect spot to enjoy sunset views, refreshing drinks, and live music, making it an ideal setting for relaxation.

Beyond the resort’s luxurious accommodation, Soulshine Bali hosts various retreats aimed at realigning the mind, body, and soul. Popular programs include Ubud Escape, Reset Retreat, and Eat, Play & Love Yourself, all designed to recharge and rejuvenate guests.

One of the most sought-after retreats is the annual Soulrocker Retreat, a deep, transformative journey led by Michael and Sara Agah Franti. This immersive program reconnects participants with their true selves through music and the rhythms of life.

Bali’s transition into medical tourism aligns with the island’s strategy to tap into its high volume of tourist arrivals. The goal is to position the island as a premier medical tourism destination, offering high-end healthcare services interwoven with Bali’s rich tourism appeal.

As part of this initiative, the NgoerahSun Wellness and Aesthetic Center (NSWAC) recently opened. A collaboration between RSUP Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Denpasar and Sun Healthcare International from South Korea, this new facility underscores Bali’s commitment to becoming a hub for wellness and medical tourism.

In this ongoing transformation, Bali is not just providing beautiful landscapes and cultural experiences but is becoming a sanctuary where health, wellness, and beauty take center stage.
