Business sector in Indonesia maintained positive momentum in the third quarter of 2026, with activity remaining stable across all major sectors of the economy. The latest findings from Bank Indonesia (BI) indicate that business performance continued to hold up between July and September, supported by growth in several key industries and improvements in companies’ financial conditions.
The findings are based on Bank Indonesia’s Business Activity Survey (Survei Kegiatan Dunia Usaha or SKDU) for the third quarter of 2026. The survey recorded a Weighted Net Balance (WNB) of 11.46%, reflecting positive business sector performance across all economic sectors in Indonesia.
“This is reflected in positive performance across all business sectors, with a Weighted Net Balance (WNB) of 11.46%,” Bank Indonesia stated in a press release on Monday, October 19, 2026.
Several sectors made notable contributions to the overall performance. These included manufacturing, public administration, defense and compulsory social security, electricity and gas supply, construction, and real estate. Their positive results helped sustain business activity throughout the quarter.
Manufacturing was among the sectors supporting this performance, while activity in construction and real estate also contributed to the broader economic picture. Public administration, defense and compulsory social security, along with electricity and gas supply, further reinforced the positive results recorded in the survey.
Alongside positive business activity, Indonesia’s overall production capacity utilization remained stable during the July to September 2026 period. According to Bank Indonesia, the utilization rate stood at 73.75%.

Although the overall figure remained steady, several sectors recorded increases in capacity utilization. These included manufacturing, electricity and gas supply, water supply, waste management, wastewater management, and recycling.
The increase in utilization across these industries indicates that production and operational capacity were being used more extensively in parts of the economy. However, the national utilization rate remained stable at 73.75% throughout the third quarter.
The survey also highlighted improvements in the financial conditions of businesses operating in Indonesia. Overall, companies reported better liquidity and profitability during the third quarter of 2026.
These improvements suggest that businesses were in a stronger position to manage their financial needs and maintain their operations. At the same time, access to credit remained easy, giving businesses continued access to financing.
The combination of improved liquidity, stronger profitability and accessible credit provided additional support for business activity during the period. These financial conditions formed part of the broader picture of resilience reflected in Bank Indonesia’s latest survey.
Looking ahead, survey respondents expect business activity to continue growing in the following quarter. Bank Indonesia projects a Weighted Net Balance of 10.77% for the next quarter, indicating that businesses remain optimistic about future activity.
Several sectors are expected to support this outlook. They include transportation and warehousing, information and communication, real estate, business services, wholesale and retail trade, as well as car and motorcycle repair.
The projected improvement in these sectors points to continued activity across services, property, trade and transportation. Wholesale and retail trade, together with vehicle repair services, is also expected to contribute to the positive outlook.
Bank Indonesia noted that these expectations are consistent with the anticipated increase in business activity during Christmas and the year-end holiday period. This period forms part of National Religious Holidays, known in Indonesia as Hari Besar Keagamaan Nasional (HBKN).
The seasonal rise in activity associated with Christmas and the year-end holidays is expected to support business performance in the coming quarter. Transportation, trade and other related services may benefit as economic activity increases during the holiday period.
Overall, Bank Indonesia’s third-quarter survey shows that business activity in Indonesia remained positive, supported by performance across multiple sectors, stable capacity utilization, improvements in liquidity and profitability, and continued access to credit. Looking toward the next quarter, businesses also expect activity to remain on a positive trajectory, with seasonal demand during the Christmas and year-end holidays providing an additional source of support.
