Hybrid Work Trends Improve Employee Performance in Indonesia

Since the Covid-19 pandemic hit Indonesia, the Indonesian government has imposed Work From Home (WFH) for employees who work in offices. As conditions improve, the government has also allowed companies to apply for hybrid work. Even several companies have fully implemented Work from Office.

It turns out that based on CISCO research, hybrid work methods in Indonesia have many positive impacts, both on performance and employee welfare.

It is known that the hybrid work method that combines working in the office and remotely has become a trend in Indonesia in 2022. This method is considered to have many positive impacts, both on performance and employee welfare.

Based on the CISCO report, that method has been able to improve the quality of work of domestic employees by up to 56.4%. Employee productivity also increased by 53.4% ​​with the hybrid method.

The hybrid work method also increases the knowledge and work skills of employees by 58.7%. Then, employee relations and attitudes at work increased 46.8% with this method.

Furthermore, 62.5% of respondents in this research admitted that their welfare improved with the adoption of hybrid methods.

In detail, 92% of respondents admitted that the hybrid work method had improved their relationship with their families. As many as 87% of respondents were also able to save money with this work method.

Then, 85% of respondents rated the hybrid method as making them happier and motivating their work roles. There are also 64% of respondents who think that hybrid work methods have a positive impact on physical fitness.

Meanwhile, 61% of respondents stated that the hybrid work method reduces stress levels.

Meanwhile, CISCO conducted this research using a survey method of 28,025 workers in 27 countries including Indonesia from January-March 2022. Respondents in this survey came from various industries, ranging from agriculture, education, manufacturing, media, and communications, to transportation.

Furthermore, the other hand, Microsoft released its second annual Work Trend Index report, titled “Great Expectations: Making Hybrid Work Work.”

The report provides analysis to accommodate the organization to continue to grow amid ongoing work changes and disruptions. A total of 31,000 people from 31 countries, including Indonesia, became respondents to the report.

“We are no longer the same as when we started working from home in early 2020. The last two years have significantly changed the way we define work in life,” said Wahjudi Purnama, Modern Work & Security Business Group Lead at Microsoft Indonesia.

As many as 48 percent of employees in Indonesia said they tend to prioritize health overwork, than before the pandemic. Meanwhile, 53 percent of Gen Z and Millennials in Indonesia are somewhat or very likely to consider changing jobs this year.

With the survey conducted by several parties, it can be concluded that the majority of employees choose WFH work or hybrid. They feel more productive and can get a work-life balance.
