Sri Mulyani, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, revealed the impact of implementing PPKM 3rd to 4th level, which reduces the community’s mobility and activities. One of the visible impacts is the level of public consumption that is suppressed.
“We still maintain the economic growth projections that have been submitted so far, in July with the PPKM 4th level will reduce mobility. It will affect people’s activities, especially in the consumption sector. We see this consumption may indeed experience pressure in the third quarter, especially in July,” said Sri Mulyani at the PPKM press conference, Wednesday (July 21, 2021).
She hoped that Covid-19 cases could be suppressed together so that the economic recovery would be sustainable.
“If it can be achieved together, in August to September, we can catch up with the possible decline in the weakening in July. So that in the third quarter, we get a sustainable economic recovery,” she concluded.
Sri Mulyani projects that Indonesia’s annual economic growth still be the same as the previous condition, which is in the range of 3.7% to 4.5%.
