The state capital (IKN) of Indonesia is certain to move to East Kalimantan. The work has even started. The election of East Kalimantan was not without reason. The area allegedly has minimal natural disasters, such as floods.
It is known that the location of the National Capital City (IKN) in Penajem Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan is claimed to be free from natural disasters such as floods, even floods for 100 years.
East Kalimantan Province Building Arrangement Commitment Making Officer Pierre Natigor Pohan said that since 2019 through a study by Bappenas and the Ministry of ATR, the location of the state capital is currently considering disaster mitigation, both floods, and earthquakes.
“One aspect is how the area can mitigate natural disasters, one of which is flooding. The location was chosen based on the criteria of how flood natural disasters do not occur, such as in the core areas of the government,” said Pierre in the discussion “IKN Construction Development Carrying Smart City-Based Projects and Sustainability Development” in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Friday (17/17/2011). 6/2022).
Pierre said that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) also, for example, in its urban planning, has chosen the lowest point in the center of government, which is at the level of 20 meters above sea level.
Meanwhile, the highest point is in the IKN Central Government Core Area (KIPP), including the Presidential Palace, 80 meters above sea level.
“And based on the study, the area is free from 100-year floods,” said the former official of the Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of PUPR.
Meanwhile, Operational Director I Waskita Karya I Ketut Pasek Senjaya Putra said that currently, IKN development was indeed full of challenges. Because it is targeted that in 2024 President Joko Widodo will be able to lead the August 17 ceremony at IKN Nusantara.
“Means the palace must be built. If there is a palace, it means that there is a police headquarters, where do ASN live? Supporters, such as office boys (OB), and drivers, at PUPR, have already thought about that,” said Pasek.
For now, Pasek revealed that logistical access to the IKN Nusantara location is still in the process of being developed. Therefore, his party chose materials for road construction to access IKN development from several cities outside Kalimantan. Materials such as river stone and sand are precast first.
“There is an idea that precast might be sent from Surabaya, Lampung, Makassar, in the form of concrete. Just plug it in. So 60 percent precast. However, for IKN work paths, it cannot be precise,” he said.
