Bengkulu is stepping up its tourism game by unveiling five new tourist spots designed to offer fresh and exciting experiences for visitors. From serene lakes to thrilling white-water rapids, the region is banking on its natural beauty and adventure potential to draw both domestic and international tourists.

Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri confirmed that five new sites are currently being developed. Among them is Bukit Basah, located in Dusun Sawah Village, North Curup District—an ideal location for camping enthusiasts. Another highlight is Curup Lekat Waterfall in Talang Rimbo Lama, Central Curup District. Standing 25 meters tall, the waterfall is set to become a hotspot for canyoning and waterfall rock climbing.

“There are five new tourist attractions in Rejang Lebong Regency that we’ve launched. If properly developed, these new destinations will attract more tourists to Rejang Lebong,” said Fikri, as quoted by Antara on Wednesday (June 4, 2025).

Also on the list is Bermani Lake in Pahlawan Village, North Curup, which is suitable for rafting and canoeing. Meanwhile, Air Lanang Village in South Curup will feature a tranquil bamboo forest, perfect for nature walks and eco-tourism. Adventure seekers can also look forward to the white-water rafting site at the Beliti Kelingi River in Air Apo Village, Binduriang District.

These tourist spots bring something different to the table compared to the existing attractions in Bengkulu. From rugged mountain scenery to immersive eco-experiences, tourists will have the chance to try rock climbing, water activities, and take in sweeping views of Curup and even Bengkulu City from higher ground.

In the capital, Bengkulu Mayor Dedy Wahyudi has called on the youth to take an active role in promoting local tourism, especially iconic sites like Danau Dendam Tak Sudah.

“Promoting tourism can be done in a millennial way. For example, when we’re hanging out, the sunrise at DDTS is stunning. If you go early in the morning, find a great photo spot, take a picture, and post it on social media with the caption: ‘This is sunrise at Danau Dendam Tak Sudah,’” said Dedy.

Danau Dendam Tak Sudah remains one of the region’s most famous spots, and what makes it even more appealing is that there’s no entrance fee for visitors.

Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) supports the growing appeal of Bengkulu’s tourism sector. In 2024, the province recorded 4.57 million domestic tourist trips. From January to April 2025 alone, that figure had already reached 2.4 million trips.

With renewed focus on nature, adventure, and social media-savvy promotion, Bengkulu seems ready to make its mark on the tourism map.
