Just days before the G7 Summit kicks off in Canada, Indonesia is preparing to put its infrastructure ambitions under the global spotlight. Through the International Conference on Infrastructure (ICI) 2025, set to take place in Jakarta on June 11–12, the country aims to demonstrate its leadership and bold vision in reshaping infrastructure development, not only domestically but also as a model for international collaboration.

Held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), ICI 2025 will serve as a prelude to the G7 Summit happening on June 15–17. With this strategic timing, the Indonesian government is seizing the momentum to share its roadmap and progress in transforming national infrastructure to meet ambitious development targets.

According to Muhammad Rachmat Kaimuddin, Deputy for Basic Infrastructure Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, the conference will be a strategic tool to fast-track the country’s infrastructure agenda. “ICI 2025 is a key move in accelerating national infrastructure development, especially to support the government’s ambitious goals like achieving 8% economic growth, food self-sufficiency, and energy independence,” he explained.

Beyond presenting progress, the event is designed to foster international partnerships. Rachmat emphasized that ICI 2025 will be a vital platform for connecting government agencies, private investors, financial institutions, and global philanthropies. He revealed that “around 80 to 90 percent of the participant slots have already been filled,” and registration remains open until June 5, 2025.

In his remarks during a press conference at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs on Monday (June 2), Rachmat also highlighted the growing demand for infrastructure funding. “Infrastructure financing needs are expected to triple compared to the previous administration. That’s why this forum is crucial for aligning policies, market actors, and potential investors,” he added.

Echoing this view, Herzaky Mahendra Putra, Special Staff for Communications at the same ministry, stressed the significance of infrastructure as a national development priority. “Infrastructure is the backbone of economic growth. Through ICI, we want to showcase both our progress and our long-term development plans,” he stated.

Themes of ICI 2025 That Define the Future

ICI 2025 will revolve around five major pillars, each addressing core challenges and opportunities in modern infrastructure development:

  1. Future-Proofing Cities – Preparing urban infrastructure to withstand and adapt to future disruptions;
  2. Connecting the Archipelago – Strengthening transport and logistical links across Indonesia’s vast land, sea, and air routes;
  3. Infrastructure for Livability – Developing inclusive and sustainable housing environments that support a better quality of life;
  4. Resilient by Design – Creating infrastructure systems that can endure and adapt to climate change impacts;
  5. Unlocking Capital – Innovating financing models and easing investment access for large-scale infrastructure projects.

These five themes will serve as the foundation for discussion and collaboration throughout the two-day conference. The government hopes they will drive a meaningful exchange of ideas and actionable strategies for infrastructure development across different sectors.

As Indonesia positions itself at the forefront of infrastructure innovation, ICI 2025 is expected to be a powerful statement of commitment, progress, and global outreach—showcasing how the country plans to build not just for today, but for a sustainable, connected, and resilient future.
