The Mandalika MotoGP race has ended with the result of Red Bull KTM Rider, Miguel Oliveira, who lifted the 1st place trophy.

Did you know that the trophies awarded to the podium-winning racers for the Asia Talent Cup (ATC), Moto3, Moto2, and the most prestigious MotoGP class were made by local UMKM?

The Mandalika MotoGP this time is not just an international level sports tourism, but also as a promotion and introduction event for MSMEs to local and international visitors.

These MSME actors have the opportunity to display their products in world-class events ranging from culinary, fashion, and craft. One of the products that received the most attention was the Mandalika MotoGP championship trophy, which was also made by local SMEs.

The trophies, which were inspired by the shape of the torch, were the work of local children, to be exact, creative economy actors from Tuksedo Studio, Gianyar, Bali. Tuxedo Studio itself is better known in its capacity as a specialist in manufacturing handmade classic cars.

Tuxedo Studio explained that the trophy’s design was inspired by a torch that symbolizes the burning fire of hot racing competition. The fire itself also later became a symbol of inspiration for the rise of the Indonesian economy.

“Especially in the tourism sector, which has been affected by the pandemic, with great hopes that we can both take care so that the fire from this ‘torch’ never goes out,” wrote Tuksedo Studio.

If you look more closely, there are local motifs on the edges of the trophy. While at the top it is equipped with a silhouette pattern of the Pertamina Mandalika International Street Circuit circuit.

As for the aluminum base material which is light and has the right strength to support the speed, Tuxedo Studio has chosen to symbolize a racing event whose winner is determined by the speed of the rider and the performance of the vehicle.

“This is a testament to the fact that Indonesia is not only capable of holding a world-class event, but also of the fact that local artists and workers have a good capacity to design and create a world-class work of art directly with their own hands,” said Tuksedo Studio.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno appreciated Tuksedo Studio which had been selected and succeeded in presenting the MotoGP trophy. This is expected to encourage the innovation of other creative actors, especially product designers, to contribute to producing other interesting products.

“We should convey high appreciation for the work of the nation’s children. This is a form of appreciation and innovation in a product. Hopefully, this can motivate and encourage innovation to other creative nation’s children, especially product designers to contribute in producing other interesting products,” he said, quoted from his official statement, Sunday (21/3/2022).
